What we collect

We only collect what we need to run classes, workshops and performances, such as:

Children's information

Most of our dancers are children. Under POPIA we process a child's personal information only with the consent of a parent or guardian, or where the law allows it. A parent or guardian should always be the one who enrols a child, gives us their details and decides on photos.

Why we use it

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we will not add you to a marketing list unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

We only share information when we need to: with eisteddfod and exam organisers when we enter a dancer, with event hosts when dancers perform, with emergency services if a dancer needs help, or when the law requires it. WhatsApp and Facebook (Meta) carry our messages under their own privacy policies.

Photos and videos

We love celebrating our dancers, so we share photos and videos from class, eisteddfods and events on Facebook and on this website. Results posts may mention a dancer's first name and surname. If you would rather your child is not shown or named, tell us when you enrol or at any time, and we will remove existing photos or names from our website and social media as soon as we can.

This website, cookies and third parties

This website has no forms, no accounts and no database. It does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. The WhatsApp, phone and email buttons simply open those apps on your device; nothing is sent to us unless you send a message yourself.

To load the website, your browser fetches files from these providers, which may record your IP address and browser details in their standard server logs:

How long we keep it

We keep a dancer's details while they dance with us and for a reasonable time afterwards to answer questions or provide certificates. Financial records are kept for as long as tax law requires, usually five years, and then deleted.

How we protect it

We take reasonable steps to keep information safe, including keeping it on password-protected devices and accounts and only sharing it when needed.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

Contact us on the details above and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
